Like Twitter followers or religious followers? Seriously, if every apostate started a religion, there would be at least 2 million more religions on earth now... wtf are these shit heads talking about?
no mention of them being mentally diseased or using "lies" to deceive god's people, just that they are out to attract followers for themselves!.
p.s.
i was cringing at the thought of sitting for 3 1/2 hours for the afternoon session but fortunately my one kid got sick!!

From Wikipedia...
The shaka sign, commonly known as "hang loose", is a gesture often associated with Hawaii and surfer culture. It consists of extending the thumb and smallest finger while holding the three middle fingers curled, and raising the hand in salutation while presenting the back; the hand may be rotated back and forth for emphasis.
The shaka sign was popularized among locals in Hawaii through its use by surfers and in surf culture throughout the state in the 1960s; it remains a salutation of friendship used by the local culture at large.
In other words... this is a worldly hand gesture which is not sanctioned by the Watchtower Corporation.
since my family is out of town, and i am alone this weekend, i have decided to attend this once to see these things for myself.
have no fear, i have absolutely no interest in joining.
my goal is simply to better understand how to reach those who are on the inside, and i feel i could better do that by observing it.
PLEASE ASK ONE OF THE ELDERS THIS QUESTION:
If I convince my family to join your religion and we all get baptized, will my family not be allowed to interact with me if I decide to formally resign from the JWs afterwards?
remember the tacoma dome parking scandal?.
it was reported a few years ago that the wt would charge witnesses for parking at the tacoma dome even though the contract with the dome stated that no parking charges were to be made.
of course the people in the kingdom halls were not told that, only reminded to be sure to pay for their parking!.
Sam... you should set up a class action law suit (wait... maybe it's past the statute of limitations.... never mind)

whatever your thoughts on the shouting, displaying a simple web address is an extremely effective and non-confrontational way of getting the message across - and in this case it looks like hundreds if not thousands of witnesses saw it.. .
cedars.
Looks like Rick Fearon is on vacation in Hungary.
i remember when i was a mind cleansed(tm) jw i would listen to the talks when i wasn't napping.. on the long tiring drive home i'd say how i ''enjoyed(tm)'' the sessions and felt ''encouraged(tm)''.. .....and yet i couldn't recall a single ''point(tm)'' made.
i couldn't remember what it was that actually made me feel good.. on one occasion i asked the family what they found ''encouraging(tm)'' or interesting.. tumble weed.
no examples.

It was probably the usual "We Thank You Jehovah" song at the end of the convention... That's their signature convention closer... After singing that song with the full orchestra track, everyone generally feels "uplifted" albeit not seeming to remember one single thing they've learned from the entire 3-day snore-fest...
my parents attended the funeral of an elderly family member today.
being out of state i was unable to attend.
i asked how it went and was told that "worldly" people don't care enough about anyone to mention anything personal.
In a JW funeral, a brief mention of the deceased such as: "She served Jehovah faithfully for 25 years" is enough to call it a "personalized" funeral talk...
However, 99% of it is merely a Watchtower Corporation recruitment talk. Nothing has changed.
hi folks.
i'm aware that there is already a thread on the newly-announced elizabeth mcfarland lawsuit, but i thought i would start a new thread for the benefit of lurkers showing the newly released news videos more prominently.. here they are.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfhrhrvm2c4.

It's incredible how the WT can easily say:
"Elders are appointed by holy spirit"
But when an elder is caught committing atrocities, they're quick to say that
"evil people have snuck into our organization"...
So which is it ??? Did they "sneek in" or were they appointed by holy spirit?
i'm about 90% finished on a book i started nine years ago.
it will deal with jehovah's witness policy on conscientious objectors during war time.
from the 1800's through the end of the draft in the early 1970's.. i am also giving a personal biographical account of my own introduction to the religion, process of assimilation and ministry experience.. additionally, i'm working in timelines connecting the 2nd adventist teachings with russell, rutherford and mainstream watchtower doctrines.. .
Terry... I would love to know a little more background about John Aquila Brown... After all, isn't he the guy that started all the dooms-day nonsense in the 19th century after writing "The Even Tide" in 1823 ?? .. Also, he came up with the 2,520-yr Gentile Times calculation that the Watchtower is claiming exclusive rights to... just saying...
